This growth has led to a significant increase in individual electricity consumption, resulting in a yearly rise in the country's overall electricity demand. India is the 3rd largest power market after China and the USA. 

 

Energy efficiency of public water supply system: A case study in Vengikkal village panchayat

Vengikkal, the second-largest panchayat in Tamil Nadu by land area, hosts a significant number of government offices and is a hub for devotees visiting Annamalaiyar Hill. Home to 26,713 residents across 8,341 households, Vengikkal faces significant challenges in managing the energy-intensive public water supply system. Operating 19 electricity service connections for water pumps, the panchayat consumes 5 lakh units of electricity annually, costing ₹42 lakhs in electricity bills. Vengikkal panchayat has an outstanding debt of ₹1.4 crore to TANGEDCO.

Media workshop 1 | Tripura | November 2024

Citizen consumer and civic Action Group (CAG), in collaboration with the Consumer Protection Association (CPA), Agartala organised a media workshop to discuss the electricity issues in Tripura, as part of the project "Accelerating Clean Energy Transition by Improving Stakeholder Participation for Electricity Governance in India". The event was held on 28 November 2024 at Agartala Press Club, Tripura.

Capacity Building Programme 3 | Chhattisgarh | November 2024

Citizen consumer and civic Action Group (CAG), Chennai, in collaboration with the Anmol Foundation, Raipur organized a capacity building workshop for domestic, commercial, small and medium enterprises’ electricity consumers on 16 November 2024, at Hotel Swarn, Mahasamund district, Chhattisgarh. This workshop is part of the initiative to improve consumers awarness of state electricity tariff, electricity conservation measures and government schemes.

This report documents the activities that young members of the Chennai High School, Goyyathope club participated in. They learnt about the effects of light pollution, the importance of energy conservation, energy efficiency audits, environmental pollution from power plants, and the importance of solar energy.
