Speakers:
Rajagopal P.V, Founder, Ekta Parishad
Bhuvaneshwari Raman, Professor, O P Jindal Global University
Priti Narayan, Researcher and Activist

About the talk:
From the proposed eightfold expansion of the Chennai Metropolitan Area to Smart City projects to evictions of slums for infrastructure projects to the destruction of the Ennore Creek, Chennai’s land use is rapidly and irreversibly changing with implications for its current and future resilience. The speakers will discuss how recent initiatives will increase the fragility of the city in terms of food security, poverty alleviation, livelihoods, and climate resilience. This open conversation seeks to engage social and environmental activists and researchers who work on initiatives to clean our lakes and beaches, that promote urban greenery and organic farming, contest evictions of low-income housing and prevent loss of coastal and common lands.

All are welcome.
