CAG's workshop on Tamil Nadu’s Road Safety Action Plan

CAG conducted a workshop on Tamil Nadu’s Road Safety Action Plan, where Transport Commissioner Shunchonngam Jatak Chiru highlighted the Rs 2,800 crore in unpaid e-challans, with a low recovery rate of 43-48% from commercial vehicles. The state plans to enhance road safety by establishing a dedicated authority and learning from successful models in other states.

In observance of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, an awareness event took place in Tirunelveli. Among the special guests were College Principal Dr. Sankarasubramanian, District Transport Officer Mr. Chandrasekaran, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr. Raghupati Raja, Mr. V. Saleem, a member of the road safety committee, along with several other officials. The chief guest emphasized the significance of adhering to road rules and shared best practices for road safety to college students.
