Electricity Consumer Cells (ECCs) have conducted outreach meetings in the month of April at Arugankulam, Thalaiyuthu Village (Tirunelveli), Hasthampatti village (Salem), Oragadam village (Tiruvallur), Kalasapakkam Village (Tiruvallur), Nathaveli Village (Cuddalore). The objective of the meeting was to educate consumers on energy governance, rights of consumers in the electricity sector and to create awareness on ECCs.
Mr.Shanmugam, ECC Advisor, Tirunelveli, explained in detail the functions of the ECCs, types of complaints registered with the ECCs, and its problem-solving mechanisms. He further informed the participants about the grievance day conducted by the Superintending Engineer once in a month in each division of the circle, where consumers participate and register their complaints.
Mr.Prabhakar, NIRT Solar Developer Solutions, gave a presentation on solar power for households. He explained about the benefits of off-grid and on-grid systems of rooftop solar. He highlighted the benefits of using the net-metering facility for rooftop solar systems.
Mr.Ashokan, ECC Advisor, Tiruvallur, talked about the need for energy conservation and the importance of electrical safety measures at the household level. He gave a detailed explanation of how Tamilnadu Electricity Generation and Distribution Company (TANGEDCO) generates, transmits and distributes electricity to households. Mr.Anandan,ECC Advisor, Tiruvannamalai, concluded the session with a vote of thanks.
