Electricity Consumer Cells (ECCs) conducted outreach meetings in March at Vadakarumbalore (Tiruvannamalai district), Thimmanikipatti (Salem district), Pudur (Tiruvallur district). The objective of the meeting was to educate consumers on energy governance, rights of consumers in the electricity sector and to create awareness on ECCs.
Mr.Anandan, ECC Advisor, Tiruvannamalai, described the functions of ECC to the participants. He explained the type of complaints registered in the ECCs i.e. its nature and the steps taken by the ECC advisor to solve the complaints.
Mr.Muthusamy, ECC Advisor, Salem, led an interactive session by explaining the process of electricity generation in simple terms to the participants. He further focused on the importance of electricity in our day-to-day life and gave some tips on energy efficiency such as changing the incandescent bulbs and compact fluorescent lamps into LED bulbs, using BEE star labeled products, etc.
Mr.Ashokan, ECC Advisor, Tiruvallur, clarified the questions raised by the participants on government subsidy for solar energy, additional security deposits charged once in six months and the procedure for applying for net metering. Mr.Dhanraj, ECC Co-ordinator, Tiruvallur, concluded the session with a vote of thanks.
