World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims 2025 | Salem

A commemorative program was held at the Government Industrial Training Institute, Salem, on Monday, 24 November 2025 at 10:30 a.m. as part of CAG’s events marking the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.

The event began with a welcome address by Mr. J.M. Boopathi, Founder of the Consumer Rights Movement, who highlighted the importance of road safety awareness and collective responsibility in preventing accidents.

The program was formally inaugurated by Ms. Lima Rose, Principal of Government ITI, who encouraged the students to develop safe road habits and become responsible road users.

Mrs. Ashwini, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Hasampatti, Salem, attended the event as the Chief Guest. She delivered an impactful and insightful address, stressing the need for discipline on the roads, the dangers of speeding and distracted driving, and the role of youth in shaping a safer future.

Former President of Salem IMA, Dr. Selva Kalanjiyam, also addressed the students, sharing medical perspectives on the tragic impact of road crashes and the preventable nature of most road injuries and fatalities.

Dr. Balamurugan, Road Safety Club Coordinator from Periyar University, participated in the program and emphasized the importance of continuous awareness initiatives and student leadership in promoting safe mobility.

A road safety awareness video produced by CAG was screened for the students, providing real-life insights and reinforcing the significance of responsible behavior on the road.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Krishna Kumar, expressing gratitude to all the speakers, participants, and organizers for their valuable contributions. The event received wide media coverage.
