Under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, the Union government offers a subsidy of ₹30,000 per kilowatt for rooftop solar systems up to 3 kW. At a recent multistakeholder meeting organised by CAG in collaboration with TNPDCL, the utility committed to disbursing the subsidy within 15 days, provided there is effective coordination between vendors and consumers.  

Consumer Awareness Programme on Telecom Services, Salem

Citizen consumer and civic Action Group (CAG), in collaboration with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), and support of Salem Consumer Rights Movement organised a consumer awareness programme on telecom services on July 8, 2025, at the School of Allied Health Sciences, Veerapandi, Salem. Mr. Subramani from CAG highlighted TRAI’s key consumer initiatives, grievance redressal mechanisms, and the importance of cyber safety. Mr. B. Senthil Kumar, Lead District Manager, Salem, delivered a special address on digital financial services.

A workshop on rooftop solar- Commitment to promoting clean energy

CAG collaborated with the Federation of OMR Resident Associations (FOMRRA) and ASAR to host an informative workshop on rooftop solar PV systems for residents across Chennai. The session provided valuable insights into solar installation, financial options, and maximizing efficiency, with a commitment to promoting clean energy.

CAG's workshop on Tamil Nadu’s Road Safety Action Plan

CAG conducted a workshop on Tamil Nadu’s Road Safety Action Plan, where Transport Commissioner Shunchonngam Jatak Chiru highlighted the Rs 2,800 crore in unpaid e-challans, with a low recovery rate of 43-48% from commercial vehicles. The state plans to enhance road safety by establishing a dedicated authority and learning from successful models in other states.
