RTS PV Systems Outreach Meeting | December 2025

Citizen consumer and civic Action Group (CAG), in collaboration with Solar Advisory Units of Salem, Madurai, Thiruvarur and Dindigul organised outreach meetings on rooftop solar PV systems. The Solar Advisory Unit is an initiative by CAG, comprising a solar expert and a coordinator with the aim of guiding consumers on solar system-related enquiries.  The Solar Advisory Units are currently functioning in Madurai, Salem, Dindigul and Thiruvarur districts.

Our cities need inclusive streets

Around 11.8 lakh people with disabilities live in Tamil Nadu, many of whom struggle every day to access and navigate public spaces. Yet, our streets and other public infrastructure continue to exclude them. Even newly developed pedestrian plazas, such as Khader Nawaz Khan Road, suffer from design flaws that discourage people with disabilities from using these spaces. Seemingly minor design details are often overlooked, making public spaces inaccessible. This year, we ask the authorities to include experts on access in the design stages of development.

Helsinki vs Chennai - Road Safety

By analysing crash data, vehicle speeds, and resident feedback, Helsinki identifies dangerous roads and blackspots, guiding safer street designs. 

Chennai can create a traffic safety data hub combining police crash data, GPS speeds, and citizen input to find high-risk zones and fix them. Safer streets start with better data.
