To mark National Road Safety Month, observed between January 15 and February 14, CAG conducted road safety awareness programs in three schools - Sri Gurumurthy Vidyalaya High School in Kodungaiyur; Don Bosco Matric Hr.Sec.School in Erukkancheri; and Chennai Middle School in Perambur on 2nd, 8th and 9th of February, 2024 respectively.
In all three schools the audience encompassed students ranging from the 6th to the 10th standards, reflecting a diverse group of young minds eager to engage with the road safety initiative.
A road safety quiz was conducted in each of these schools. Alongside the quiz, an informative session underscored the importance of helmet usage, as well as pedestrian and cyclist safety, offering practical road safety guidance tailored for school children. The students actively participated, posing questions to clarify their doubts during this insightful session.
Inspector, Mr.Madhivannan, and Sub-inspector, Mr.Premanandhan, of P6 police station who were the chief guests of the event at Don Bosco Matric Hr.Sec. School, Erukkancheri gave an awareness speech on helmet usage, underage driving and other safety tips targeting school children.
The events concluded with the announcement of winners, who were duly rewarded with prizes, while all participants received certificates as a token of recognition for their involvement in the educational initiative. The culmination of the events featured students collectively pledging to prioritise road safety, fostering a sense of responsibility and awareness among the young participants.
