Speeding - Increases wildlife-vehicle collisions

Author

Speeding was the leading cause of road accident deaths in 2023, accounting for approximately 70% of fatalities. But humans are not the only ones harmed by speeding.

Between 2018 and 2023, approximately 1,552 wildlife roadkill accidents were recorded on Tamil Nadu highways alone! Increased noise from speeding interrupts communication signals between animals, disorients them and leads to a plethora of problems such as miscarriage, loss of hearing and habitat abandonment. Noise pollution can also make it difficult for animals to migrate or find their way home.

By protecting our biodiversity and environment, we are also protecting ourselves. Slow down, save wildlife.
