In honor of World Public Transport Day, our team member Kavipriya documented her experience riding the MTC buses. Here's what she says about her ride home:

I boarded the 5C from the C.I.T Colony bus stop to Tidel Park. My wait at the bus stop was less than 10 minutes and the journey began at 7 pm and concluded at my house in Thiruvanmiyur at 8pm.

The journey itself was smooth and lasted 25 minutes in a relatively empty and accessible low floor bus. Walking home after getting down at Tidel Park was the most time consuming, the 1 kilometer walk taking me 20 minutes. My dripping sweat in the sweltering Chennai heat demanded for better last mile connectivity. But my ticket cost me just Rs. 19, which I could pay through Google Pay. Sitting by the window seat with the breeze in my face on my beloved Chennai buses was a quiet celebration in the spirit of World Transport Day!
