In documenting the voices of hypertensive patients from our pilot study in Tiruvannamalai district, we found an overwhelming number of respondents to be satisfied with their hypertension healthcare services provided through PHCs and the Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam scheme. These services are certainly improving access to healthcare, particularly among the lower sections of the rural community. However, aspects of the programme still need improvement. Even children are not free of the risk of primary hypertension. Also known as essential hypertension, this increase in blood pressure is without any identifiable medical cause. A healthy diet, and exercise along with medication is effective in treating the condition. #BeatThePressure
A key part of being a good driver is knowing how to handle all types of weather, including rain. It also means knowing when and how to pull over to wait out severe weather.
One of the first cycling tracks, spanning 3.8km, was paved in K K Nagar in 2017. These are currently in poor condition and much of the stretch has been lost to motorists. This is vastly true of other cycle tracks attempted around the city. Bicycle trails must be well-maintained and strictly policed for encroachments in order to be used effectively.
CAG, in association with some CSOs in Tamil Nadu, is working on a project “Accelerating Clean Energy Transition By Improving Stakeholder Participation For Electricity Governance In India”. The project is designed to facilitate consumer and civil society organization involvement in the electricity sector. A media workshop was organised jointly by Citizen Consumer and Civic Action Group (CAG) and Consumer Rights Movement on 07th July, 2024 at Hotel RK Residency, Salem, Tamil Nadu. The workshop had media personnel from print, electronic, and digital media.
CAG, in association with the CSOs in Telangana, are working on a project “Accelerating Clean Energy Transition By Improving Stakeholder Participation For Electricity Governance In India”. The project is designed to facilitate consumer and civil society organization involvement in the electricity sector. The local electricity forum convenes monthly meetings as a core activity to deliberate and resolve electricity-related issues within the community.
CAG in association with the Consumer Rights, Education and Awareness Trust (CREAT) is working on a project “Accelerating Clean Energy Transition By Improving Stakeholder Participation For Electricity Governance In India” in Karnataka. There are five Electricity Supply Companies (ESCOMS] in Karnataka. To reach out to these five ESCOMS, a core group consisting of representatives from consumer groups, civil society organizations and electricity experts in districts was formed.
