Rapid growth in world population, industries, and technologies has led to a greater demand for energy sources in order to meet future needs. However, there are still some parts of the world which are not able to meet their current energy needs.

The Electricity Consumer Cell (ECC), Cuddalore, organized a capacity building programme on “Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy” on March 28, 2018, at Velangappatu, Cuddalore district. The purpose of the programme was to build consumer awareness on energy conservation and to educate them about energy-efficient devices and renewable energy concepts at the household level. National Social Service (NSS) club members of the Annamalai University participated in the programme.
Citizen consumer and civic Action Group (CAG) and Press Institute of India (PII) jointly organized a seminar on “Tamil Nadu Solar Policy 2012 & Rooftop Solar Implementation: Issues and Challenges” on October 24, 2017 at Press Institute of India, Chennai. The seminar attracted participants from various media organizations as well as researchers.
Electricity Consumer Cell (ECC), Thiruvallur organized a capacity building programme titled “Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy” on October 14, 2017, at New Abirami Hall, Ambattur, Chennai. The programme was attended by students from Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Ambattur and various consumer groups and Civil Society Organizations.
Mr. Selvaraj, Chairman of Federation of Consumer Organizations Tamil Nadu & Pondicherry, welcomed the participants and gave an introductory speech on the purpose of the capacity building programme.
