On February 17th 2019, at around 9 am,I was travelling to Vandalur for my college project. We were a group of friends, all on their own bikes. I had one friend riding pillion with me. One of my friends started overtaking all of us and this started a road race, where I sped trying to stay ahead. Soon,we were all racing on the busy and dangerous highway stretch near Tambaram. Negotiating a curve at high speed, my vehicle skidded hurling me and my friend to the ground. My hand was badly injured in the fall, with broken bones. My friend suffered serious injuries to his face. It took us nearly 6 months to fully recover from the road crash. Now I have taken an oath to drive safely and also wear a helmet at all times. I also urge all of you to drive safely and always wear a helmet. Roads are not meant for racing. Sensible speeds are important on roads - for our own safety and that of others.
