Asian economies account for 75% of the world's carbon dioxide emissions, which is approximately 795 million tonnes. Out of this, India emits about 291 million tonnes, constituting 36% of the total emissions from Asia. In India, over the past decade, CO2 emissions from the transportation sector alone have tripled.
The effects of climate change know no boundaries, transcending borders and impacting every individual, community and nation. India ranks third among the top 50 nations most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. Closer to home, this summer, Tamil Nadu witnessed sweltering heat waves, with the vulnerable facing the brunt of it.
#Manjappai is the way forward! Carry one with you - they're small, light and can carry a lot of weight. Your perfect companion for shopping. Who needs plastic bags anymore?
Today is #RefuseSingleUse day. #SingleUsePlastics give us the impression of saving time & effort...single use plastic cups, single use plastic straws, single use plastic bags. The list is endless. We need to change, & we need to start somewhere. So today, why not say 'no' to the plastic cups in your local tea stall? Ask them for a glass or metal one & be the start of something new.
