Waste incineration is increasingly promoted as a sustainable solution for waste management through out the world even though it is at the bottom of the waste hierarchy. This study highlights how incinerator technology and infrequent maintenance schedules have been strongly linked with adverse health effects. Waste minimisation is the need of the hour!

The power sector is one of the highly stressed sectors, responsible for 40% of the total stressed assets in India. We performed financial analysis of the IL&FS Tamil Nadu Power Company in Cuddalore, accused of environmental pollution in nearby villages and the struggling arm of IL&FS's coal based energy business.

At the start of this decade, when Tamil Nadu was reeling under an acute shortage of power, capacity addition to the tune of 50 GW was proposed. This report looks at the status of the proposed plants and finds that only one of them has been commissioned, and most others shelved.
