Concept Note for the Public Meeting in Kodungaiyur.

The report talks about the different chemicals used in the production of plastics, toxins released during the use and disposal of plastics and their respective impacts on health and environment. 

This Human Rights primer is an introduction to the UN declaration of Human Rights, international human rights law and the protection of Human Rights by different international, regional, national institutions and civil society organizations arbitrating human rights issues. It introduces the main international and regional human rights instruments and the institutional frameworks that support the implementation of these instruments in international and national contexts.
 

Waste and brand audits were conducted in 250 sites across 15 cities in 18 Indian states in 21 days in May 2018 to highlight the pervasiveness of plastics and to ascertain responsibility for the proliferation of problematic plastic packaging in the environment.

The area around Pallikaranai marsh was historically the natural water-holding zone for the city of Chennai. However, due to mislabelling in planning documents, and wanton construction and encroachments, this wetland is endangered.

In February 2018, CAG began an engagement with the Madras School of Social Work (MSSW), an autonomous college located in the city, to make their campus zero waste. This report presents the findings and recommendations from the preliminary waste audit undertaken by the CAG team along with the staff and students of MSSW.
