International Waste Pickers Day

There are an estimated 20 million waste pickers worldwide, who make our lives bearable just by doing those jobs no one wants. Why not try and get to know your local waste picker? You will see for yourself, how enterprising and resilient they are. More importantly, you will see how important the job they do is - without them our homes, streets and neighbourhoods will be reduced to stink and decay. #InternationalWastepickersDay

Today on #WorldWastePickersDay, we celebrate the over 15 million waste pickers globally, who handle our waste unflinchingly. They rummage through our #waste, salvaging tonnes of it that might otherwise have ended up in #landfills. And they even look through the vast wastelands of our landfills, recovering something small here and there. Let's celebrate them for they are the true unsung heroes.
