Waste to Worth: Building a Sharing Community of Young People for Sustainable Waste Management in Chennai (GAF 2025)
As part of Green Action Week, this project addresses the challenge of urban waste in Chennai by building a “sharing community” rooted in sustainable consumption. Rapid urbanisation and unsegregated disposal practices strain ecosystems and public health. To counter this, the initiative fosters collective action through experiential activities and distribution of educational materials in schools, and colleges. By combining education, practice, and community engagement, the project advances a collaborative vision of sustainable lifestyles.
Chennai’s mounting landfill crisis is fuelled by over 4,600 MT of unsegregated waste generated daily, causing environmental and health hazards. This project leverages the ‘Sharing Community’ approach to engage youth as change-makers in promoting waste segregation, composting, and resource sharing.

Climate Action Month 2025
Climate Action Month 2025 was an incredible success, reaching over 8,000 individuals, including students and the general public. Throughout July, a series of engaging events took place across schools, colleges, public parks, and other venues.
