Make the shift for better future (GAF 2024)

The challenge of sustainable consumption stems from the escalating strain on natural resources and ecosystems due to unchecked industrialisation and population growth. Inefficient production and overconsumption contribute significantly to waste generation and resource depletion. E-waste is the fastest-growing solid waste stream in the world. In 2019, 53.6 million tonnes of e-waste were produced globally, but only 17.4% was documented as formally collected and recycled. Single-use plastics, excessive packaging, and reliance on non-renewable energy sources further compound the problem. Addressing these challenges necessitates coordinated efforts across sectors. Consumer education and accessibility to sustainable products are key in promoting responsible consumption behaviours.

Sharing resources, consuming sustainably and proper disposing of waste are the need of the hour. The project intends to raise awareness about these practices through a number of activities especially targeting young people.
