Local Forum Meeting at Madikeri, Coorg
The 2nd Local Electricity Forum meeting was organised on 17th September 2024 at Salem. The meeting was inaugurated by Ms.Jennis, Managing Trustee, Jennis Educational Trust. She appreciated the Consumer Rights Movement and CAG, Chennai, for organising such a meeting. The participants were domestic, and commercial consumers, representatives from handloom and ornaments labour associations.
A seminar on electricity governance, energy efficiency and renewable energy was conducted at Hotel Cambin in Durg district on 25th September 2024. The seminar was conducted in collaboration with Anmol Foundation, Chhattisgarh. Around 40 participants comprising farmers, students, businessmen, media representatives, academics and residential consumers attended the event. Mr. Harbansh Singh Miri, Joint Collector of Durg and Mr.Uttam Kumar, Deputy Collector were chief guests at the event.

Hypertension is often referred to as the 'silent killer' because it lacks noticeable symptoms. Even the rural population, primarily daily wage laborers who engage in significant physical activity, were taken aback during hypertension screening when they discovered they had high blood pressure. The Pedestrian Plaza project in Pondy Bazaar, under the Chennai Smart City Initiative aimed to create pedestrian-friendly spaces by relocating street vendors to a dedicated complex. CAG’s study, surveying 350 customers and 170 vendors, found that 94% of vendors reported changes in their income post-relocation, with 64% experiencing an increase. Among customers, 71% viewed the relocation positively, while 29% indicated they missed the street shopping experience.
