Road infrastructure is designed for men - bus step heights & duration of #pedestrian lights for example. Safety is a crucial missing link in road design. Pedestrian infrastructure like foot overbridges & subways tend to be dark, unwelcoming spaces that are unsafe for #women. This International #WomensDay, let us focus on improving & revamping our public infrastructure to be inclusive.

Over 20,000 women died on #Indian roads in 2021. However, the implications of unsafe #transport systems & road infrastructure on female road users is not a well-researched subject. We need this to change. This #InternationalWomensDay2023 let us call on government agencies and decision-makers to understand #RoadSafety problems specific to #women & promote appropriate road safety action plans.
