It's been 5 years since Chennai became the first Indian city to adopt a non motorised transport (NMT) Policy. Are pedestrians safer now? What ails Chennai's public bus service and why it needs to be revived to former glory, was the focus of a webinar organised by CAG and SUM Net India. This webinar was part of a SUM Net India campaign, Lakh ko 50, urging the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and state governments to invest in robust public bus networks with a fleet of at least 50 buses per lakh population.

Ever since the lockdown was announced in March 2020 in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, there have been media reports of several accidents of vehicles transporting migrant workers across the country.
