The concentration of chemical industries and thermal power plants in the industrial taluks of Thoothukudi district leads to a mixture of several contaminating sources. Based on a survey on wellbeing, and impacts on agriculture and water, we found an overall negative association between industrialisation and quality of life in the public mind.

Citizen consumer and civic Action Group initiated a brief campaign called “Waste to Food '' in Arikamedu, Chennai. The main objective of the campaign is to educate consumers on sustainable consumption, waste management and collective use of compost from common composting units for kitchen gardens, and thus instill the practice of sharing of resources that will contribute to a healthy environment.
Bring about behavioral change among the targeted consumers on consumption habits and waste management, and educate them on the concept of sharing, which will contribute to a healthy environment.
Aware consumers – on sustainable consumption and importance of sharing
Train the community – on waste management in households and composting wet-waste without going to landfills, which will go a long way in protecting the environment
Educate consumers – on collective use of compost from common composting units, for kitchen gardens, to produce organic food

Citizen consumer and civic Action Group (CAG) organized a State level Electricity Consumer Cell (ECC) meeting on March 21, 2018, at Raj Park, Chennai. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the progress of the ECCs and to understand the various challenges faced by the ECCs. The meeting focused on the progress of the Electricity Consumer Cells of Tiruvallur, Cuddalore, and Tirunelveli from December 2016 - February 2018.
