Road Safety - Road Accidents in India 2020

Author

2020 is memorable for lockdowns and you might think there would have been no road crashes then! Given that the daily average of road crashes and fatalities for 2019 were 1230 and 414, it is not much of a reduction in 2020! This underlines the need for immediate implementation of #MVAA2019 and continued focus on enforcement.

Road Safety - Household Burdens of Road Crashes

Author

Tamil Nadu shows the highest post-crash costs incurred due to income loss. The extra costs on post-crash care or the victim’s funeral destabilises family budgets and increases Out Of Pocket Expenditure, a burden felt more severely by low income households. This calls for implementation of the interim compensation as per Section 164A of the MVAA, 2019. PC: Ayaneshu Bhardwaj on Unsplash
