#India has a target of raising the non-fossil fuel based energy capacity to 500 GW by 2030. Policies & financial institutions that support #Waste To #Energy #incinerators need to remember that #plastic is #fossilfuels. Burning (plastic) waste as a source of energy not only slows down our #sustainableenergy aspirations, it actively worsens our emission target contributions. And of course, the plastic production will continue unabated, as now, it can all just be burnt. We lose on all fronts.

Free bus for women: a hit or miss?

In May 2021, the Tamil Nadu government launched a scheme that made public city and town buses (with certain caveats) free for women. While the rides are completely free (with no restrictions on the number of trips per day or month), the scheme is applicable only on ‘white board’ buses. The white board buses are what are known as Ordinary Bus Routes and represent the most inexpensive category of service that halts at all bus stops on a given route.

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) on June 9th of 2022 issued guidelines aiming to further protect consumers from claims and promises from advertisements that are misleading, baseless, unjustified, unrealistic, false, etc.

Sustainable Transport - Free bus for women in Tamil Nadu

The TN government free bus scheme for women on all whiteboard buses left some women confused. Which buses were free? Sometimes, it's challenging to spot a whiteboard bus from afar. Recently all free buses for #women have been painted #pink to help set them apart. A great move!

International Day of Older Persons 2022
