This Impact Assessment Report highlights how the pilot phase of 'FOCUS' - the climate change curriculum textbook developed by CAG - was introduced in select schools in Chennai. It measures project outcomes, analysing positive shifts in both students and teachers. The report provides concrete evidence of heightened student awareness, engagement, and empowerment, as well as innovative teaching methods and renewed enthusiasm among educators.
In light of the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives’ (GAIA) Zero Waste Month observed in January, Citizen consumer and civic Action Group (CAG) in collaboration with Justice Basheer Ahmed Syed (JBAS) College, Chennai conducted an event ‘Zero Waste Beginnings’. The event was aimed at college students, to help build an awareness of zero waste lifestyles and understand the overwhelming menace of solid waste, especially plastic waste.
As per a Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health study, #ClimateChange & the reduction in pollinators is causing a 3 to 5% loss in the production of healthy foods like fruits, vegetables & nuts. This reduced supply is leading to 1% of all deaths worldwide.

Offering robust, sustainable, safe public transport should be viewed as meeting a basic need. If seen as a profit making service, it will skew priorities and compromise on safety, service quality, and accessibility for all. No well run public transit mechanism makes a profit.
With so many thousands of commuters travelling to their places of work or education each day, companies & schools can set in place policies that keep these numbers down. After all, it is everybody's responsibility to keep our streets safe & sustainable & not just the government's.
