Colloquium Overview

Climate challenges today demand not only scientific solutions and policy responses, but also effective communication that can inspire understanding, participation and action. Traditional modes of climate communication often fail to resonate with young audiences who are key drivers of behavioural and social change.

Some say #GlobalWarming is overstated and wrongly linked to natural disasters, but strong scientific evidence shows it is real, driven by human activity, and intensifying extreme weather. Accepting this reality is essential for protecting communities and building resilience.

A commemorative program was held at the Government Industrial Training Institute, Salem, on Monday, 24 November 2025 at 10:30 a.m. as part of CAG’s events marking the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.

The event began with a welcome address by Mr. J.M. Boopathi, Founder of the Consumer Rights Movement, who highlighted the importance of road safety awareness and collective responsibility in preventing accidents.

In commemoration of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (20.11.2025), an awareness programme was jointly organised by Citizen consumer and civic Action Group (CAG) and Shelter Trust at Dr Ambedkar Government Law College.

The event was attended by Dr Kayalvizhi, Principal of Dr Ambedkar Government Law College, Chennai, Mr Neelakandan, trainer from Alert NGO, Mr Mohan from CAG, and Mr Selvam, social worker, and Mr Vishwa, volunteer, representing Shelter Trust.

Citizen consumer and civic Action Group (CAG), in collaboration with Columbans Anglo Indian School, Parrys George Town, Chennai, organised a Rooftop Solar PV awareness workshop on Thursday, November 6, 2025 and Friday , November 7, 2025. The event took place from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and was attended by 250 parents from the Surrounding area.

The city has reimagined its streets by narrowing roads, widening pavements, adding trees, and building over 1,500 km of dedicated cycling paths - all to make walking and cycling safer and more inviting. 

Chennai can take inspiration by identifying key pedestrian and school routes, redesigning junctions for slower vehicle speeds and creating a connected network of footpaths and cycle tracks.
